2018 The Weiland Firm, PLC Scholarship Winner – Megan Victory

Tell us about yourself.

I am a high school senior at Kingman Academy of Learning. I enjoy being involved in my school through student government, cheerleading, national honors society, and volleyball managing. I am a part time lifeguard, tutor, and dogsitter. I do not have much free time, but the free time I do have, I like spending time with my family.

What has been your best experience in school?

My best experience in school has been being able to be a part of student council and cheerleading. Through these organizations, I was able to meet many of the students in my school and connect with them and learn how to make high school a better place. I was able to make a difference in the lives of my peers, which made my own school experience 100 times better.

What influenced your choice in major?

My fourth grade teacher, Mrs. McLarty, majorly influenced my interest in science. I had the privilege of having both her and her husband as science teachers throughout my schooling. I have enjoyed learning about how the chemical processes of humans allow us to live!

How do you envision yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I hope to have completed my bachelor’s of science and be on my way to a master’s degree! I would like to be interning while going to school, gaining knowledge and real life experience.

What do you hope to learn from your school experience?

In high school, I have gained extremely valuable time management skills and social skills. In college, I hope to gain a better understanding of subjects I truly love while working in labs to get real world experience. I hope to learn how to make my peers become connections and expand my network of people and be a resource for others as well.

What extracurricular activities do you enjoy?

In school, I enjoy extracurricular activities that allow me to be involved. Student government, cheerleading, and National Honors Society give me an opportunity to be involved in my school and lead by example.
